The quirkiest thriller since Blood Simple, "Red Rock West" stars Nicolas Cage, Dennis Hopper and LaraFlynn Boyle in an offbeat mystery about an average guy who is mistaken for a professional hit-man. Dead tired and flat broke after driving 1,200 miles, Michael, an unemployed Texan (Cage), walks into a tavern in tiny "Red Rock West," Wyoming, and is immediately offered a job. There's just one problem: the owner thinks Micheal is a hit-man, and the "job" is murdering the owner's wife (Boyle). Just when Mike decides to take the money and run, the real hit-man (Hopper, sporting a homicidal Texas twang) arrives, ready to do the job right. Full of playful twists and sexy turns, "Red Rock West" is a perfectly plotted game of cat-and-mouse that will keep you guessing until the final, shocking shot.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: It should never have fallen through the cracks. This clever little film is a real find.
Fresh: It's well worth tracking down, wherever you can find it. For it has the kind of tension and energy -- maybe even a touch of delirium -- that is only a memory in most of today's big studio movies.
Fresh: A wry thriller with a keen edge.
Fresh: Director John Dahl and his brother Rick Dahl co-wrote the intelligent and off-handedly witty script; they're like the Coen brothers, but with a sense of fun and a coherent, entertaining story to tell.
Good, not great
Not one of the classic quirky movies but watchable and decent entertainment. I am a Cage fan in general but this is not his best - and with this excellent cast I would have expected more... Dennis Hopper, however, is worth the price of admission.
not too bad
caught this movie late one night on showtime. it's one of those ones that I start watching and I can't stop even if i want to. Worth the 2.99 if you want a good movie to watch.
Red Rock West
This film twists, turns and keeps you guessing the whole ride as Nicolas Cage tries to escape from a small town hell bent on keeping him hostage within their deadly soap opera. Laura Flynn Boyle is as devious as she is hot in the film. Dennis Hoppper is his classic weird evil self. I give it 4.5 out of 5. Good entertainment.
