If not for the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, it might never have happened, but the gunshots that rang out in the Ambassador Hotel kitchen in June of 1968 started a music revolution. Sample This chronicles the story of the unexpectedly brilliant musical collaboration that led to the birth of the Incredible Bongo Band's famous “Apache,” an album widely revered as the national anthem of hip hop and one of the most influential recordings in history.

Amazing pop culture story
It's not just a hip hop film but so much more. The behind the scenes stories of the session musicians were riveting. A music see for any music fan.
I watched it this weekend in the theatre in NY. Even if you aren't into hip hop music its a great film, definitely worth the rental. Gene Simmons was wonderful as the narrator and it was interesting to hear from the studio musicians, they had a line where they said, 'we are the people you hear about but never see' and its quite true. If you have time check it out.
