Innovative filmmaker, Spike Lee (She's Gotta Have It), brings to the screen a music-filled, offbeat contemporary comedy that takes an unforgettable look at black college life. Amidst gala coronations, football, fraternities, parades and parties, the stars of the film-Laurence Fishburne ("Dap" Dunlap), an intense student who encourages his buddies ("DaFellas") to fight for his beliefs; Giancarlo Esposito (Julian "Big Brother Almighty" Eaves), out to strengthen the Greek system with his Gamma PhiGamma fraternity brothers; Spike Lee ("Half-Pint"), driven to become a "Gamma man"; and Tisha Campbell (Jane Toussaint), leader of the sorority, "Gamma Rays," find themselves caught up in romance andrelationships/rituals and rivalries during one outrageous homecoming weekend. With dynamic music, including EU's hit "Da Butt", and dance numbers choreographed by Otis Sallid (Fame), Lee successfully challenges viewpoints about self-identity and self-esteem in this original, contemporary musical comedy.

Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: For every tough-minded confrontation between the different student factions, School Daze is apt to offer a love scene less than vital to the plot, or an overlong musical scene whose effect is that of treading water.
Rotten: School Daze, with its pompous patchwork plot, is an arrogant, humorless, sexist mess.
Fresh: Although the film has big structural problems and leaves a lot of loose ends, there was never a moment when it didn't absorb me.
Fresh: Some of the issues get lost in the mix, but strong performances by Lee and Fishburne make this a watchable and thought-provoking venture.

THE REAL WORLD
MR.LEE showed everyone how great college can be and how we dislike each other . even if we are the same race just because i don't have nice hair or i'am not light skin.but we are the same no matter what we need to stick together as people and wake up to see the real picture.excellent movie, great actor's,and it gave most of the actor's their big break. SPIKE KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
When I first say this movie I enjoyed it. After viewing again, years later, I still enjoyed it. Great acting, great soundtrack, and also great directing by Spike Lee.
