Fresh: As always, Chow shows himself an acute parodist of other genres while adding his own cherry on the top.
Fresh: As goofy action comedies go, Shaolin Soccer is one of the best.
Fresh: It is piffle, yes, but superior piffle.
Fresh: A spirited crowd-pleaser.
This movie right along with Ku Fu Hustle are two of my favorite funny martial arts movies. i first saw it when i went to a store that sold Japanese animation and it was on the TV they had there. i watched about half an hour of it and laughed so much that the lady behind the counter got it and waited for me to bring up what i was gonna buy. i saw it there and thanked her and had it added it to my bill.
yes this is good this is true
Such a classic!!! Stephen Chow is such a genius (Kung Fu Hustle is also from him, which came out 3 years after Shaolin Soccer), he wrote, directed and also plays the main character in this very entertaining and hilarious comedy packed with brilliant action scenes. It's as original as refreshing and there really is nothing like it. For amateurs of asian cinema as well as newbies, this is a must see.
