Fresh: This mind-meld of sci-fi thriller, morality play and passionate romance is worth seeing, mostly for the palpable chemistry between the lead actors. – Claudia Puig, USA Today, Aug 9, 2011

Rotten: Cradled in Damon's solidly reliable hands, even a movie as extravagantly silly as this one gains heft and credibility, an impressive accomplishment when you consider that the entire plot revolves around magic notebooks and spellbinding hats. – Jeannette Catsoulis, NPR, Mar 4, 2011

Fresh: Damon and Blunt give such terrific performances you might almost forgive the movie's dopey ending. – Rafer Guzman, Newsday, Mar 30, 2011

Stylish, Thrilling, and Romantic

While "The Adjustment Bureau" wasn't the action-packed thriller I was expecting, it still turned out to be a thrilling, thought-provoking film.
The story can be a little misleading here and there, but not enough to throw you off track. The ending was a bit strange, but director George Nolfi stated the intention of the film is to raise questions, and believe me, I was asking questions afterwards, so mission acomplished. It was a weird ending, but it wasn't stupid.
While the entire cast proves entertaining, Matt Damon and Emily Blunt give astonishing performances. The two have nice chemistry and dialogue, backed up by a smart script, and never failed to please.
While there wasn't much action in the film, it wasn't short on thrills. There were some real nail-biter scenes in here, and never got boring. Plus, the blend of sci-fi and political intrigue was a nice, stylish touch.
So overall, the film wasn't a classic, but it was an entertaining, thoughtful film. It's a great date movie, with plenty of romance and suspence. Thumbs up.
"All I have are the choices I make, and I choose her, come what may." - Matt Damon as David Norris
