Plot Summary

In this contemporary American adaptation of the 1978 outrageous French farce La Cage Aux Folles, the story centers on the life of a middle-aged, flamboyant gay couple...Armand and Albert...in the eclectic community of South Beach, Florida, who have raised a straight son. The son announces his engagement to the daughter of a right-wing U.S. senator, and wants to bring his fiancee and her ultraconservative parents home to meet his family for the first time. What choice is there but to accept his decision with love! So Armand and Albert must pretend to be very straight by attempting to play out the roles of your typical heterosexual "husband" and "wife"! Easier said than done...

Fresh: The beauty of The Birdcage is that its jokes and its message are one and the same. These characters couldn't change themselves if they tried. And only a fool would want them to. – Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly, May 29, 2011

Wonderful and Outstanding

This movie is definitely a "have to buy" movie. It's comical, funny, and the cast is amazing. Hank Azaria, Nathan Lane, and Robin Williams all nail their parts with room to spare. This is a laugh out loud movie for the entire family, although I would not recommend it for young children. I would suggest viewing the trailer before you attempt to rent or buy this movie. I myself have bought it and I am enjoying it without a doubt. I hope this was helpful and if it was, please click on "Yes". Enjoy!!!!

Five Stars! Outstanding!

This is arguably one of the greatest comedies of the 90s. Robin Williams and Nathan Lane are outstanding! This truly is a movie the whole family (well, except maybe little children) will enjoy. Even my grandmother thought this movie was hysterical, and she hardly watches anything that doesn't have John Wayne or Sidney Poitier or other famous actors of the time in it. Definitely worth it. Don't hesitate to rent this. This is only the second review, but don't let that stop you. After seeing this movie, you'll give it five stars too. I promise.

One of My Faves! =)

This is possibly one of the funniest movies ever!! Love Hank Azaria in this!!
