Plot Summary

The Bourne Legacy takes the action-packed Bourne series to an explosive new level. On the verge of having their conspiracy exposed, members of the government’s intelligence community will stop at nothing to erase all evidence of their top secret programs – even the agents involved. Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner) must use his genetically-engineered skills to survive the ultimate game of cat-and-mouse and finish what Jason Bourne started. Also starring Academy Award® winner Rachel Weisz and Academy Award® nominee Edward Norton, critics are calling this a "thrilling, edge-of-your-seat heart-pounder” (Meg Porter Berns, WSVN-TV (FOX), Miami).

Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Renner and Weisz work well together as two hunted souls who initially need each other for utilitarian reasons. – Lisa Kennedy, Denver Post, Aug 10, 2012

Rotten: Gilroy's a fine writer - he also penned Michael Clayton - but without the discipline of an action veteran like Greengrass to rein him in, he indulges his weakness to over-explain things. – Peter Howell, Toronto Star, Aug 10, 2012

Fresh: The film is too well-made and too well-paced to reek of cynicism...But rather than leaving you yearning for yet more Bourne, this exhausting fourth installment is more likely to have you citing one of the clearly stated themes in the film: "no more". – Jim Schembri, 3AW, Aug 17, 2012

Rotten: The Bourne Legacy in no way honours the Bourne legacy. It is merely an exercise in brand maintenance until Damon feels like climbing down off his wallet to be Bourne again. – Leigh Paatsch, Herald Sun (Australia), Aug 16, 2012

I loved it!!!

I don't know why everyone is hating on this movie so much. I thought it was the best Bourne movie out of all them! I know the ending wasn't as good as it should be, but Jeremy Renner killed it!

Sub Par

horrible ending to a potently ok movie.

RENNER DOES JUSTICE TO DAMON.

Well, I honestly expected better, but it wasn't so bad. Jeremy Renner marked his way to my list of favorite actors after 2010's epic film "The Town." He delivered exactly what I hoped he would. However the plot was somewhat weak, and I really do not know why. A lot was missing that I can't explain. For one, the ending was so rushed that I actually said at the end of my screening at the Deauville film festival; "What?! That's it?!" It was a decent film, but still it was no match whatsoever for Mat Damons franchise. Finally it was good, but could have been better....
