About the Movie

The producers of Wedding Crashers are back with the comedy The Comebacks. Spoofing countless inspirational sports movies, the film stars David Koechner (Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy) as Lambeau Fields, a football coach who suffers from a streak of bad luck that has become the stuff of legend. As a last resort, he takes a job coaching a college football team populated with some of the least desirable players imaginable. He must pull this ragtag crew together in order to salvage his career. Carl Weathers plays rival coach Freddie Wiseman.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: One of those parody movies that presume that merely making reference to another film constitutes a joke. – Matt Zoller Seitz, New York Times, Jul 16, 2008

Rotten: The Comebacks is probably the worst movie that's sludged across my professional eyeballs -- worse than Daddy Day Camp, Baby Geniuses 2, and BloodRayne. – Gregory Kirschling, Entertainment Weekly, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: An exceptionally lame genre parody that plumbs depths of ineptitude heretofore charted only by the marginally less abysmal Date Movie. – Joe Leydon, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Keep your head down, your expectations low and, maybe, good things will happen. We repeat: Maybe. – Gene Seymour, Newsday, Jun 24, 2010

A good spoof, worth renting.

They did a good job with this movie, spoofing some of the best sport movies we've seen. Including Remeber the Titans, Radio, Invincible, Dodgeball, and many, many more. It is worth renting, but I wouldn't buy it.
