Top Critics' Reviews
Rotten: Unblushingly tacky and derivative.
Fresh: Jules Verne this isn't, but it makes for fairly diverting escapist fare.
Rotten: Undigestible fusion of worst-case earth science and leaden pacing.
Fresh: The Core works because the characters are idiosyncratic enough to seem authentic but not so zany that they seem contrived.
I liked it....
Like another reviewer has said...Its not Day After Tomorrow (Which they should add here by the way) destruction....It's quite unique...The only part I didn't really understand was on how the birds and people in the beginning just flat-out died.....
The Best End-Of-The-World Movie!!
Okay, this story is so unique! The core stopped working and things started to happen all of a sudden is different from other typical world-destructon movies like asteroids and meteors hitting Earth. And, if you watch this, now you'll learn what's inside earth! Great movie, great acting of Hilary Swank! Another Must-Have for your iPod!
saw it for free & still wanted my $ back
borrowed the dvd from work & man what a wasted night. the premise is the core of earth stops spinning & therefore we need to drill into the center of the earth to "jumpstart" it again with nuclear warheads. if you can suspend reality for a bit & go along with that, then you're in for an hour of actors reacting to what is happening on their monitors. "what is that?" "avoid the dark patches!" & so on. it's about as exciting as watching a movie about a bunch of people playing nintendo.
