Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: Presumably intended as an inspirational medical drama, this dated effort congeals into stale nostalgia. Mr. Simmons deserves better. – Andy Webster, New York Times, Mar 18, 2011

Fresh: The novel premise and otherwise nuanced performances are enough to hold attention. – Dennis Harvey, Variety, Mar 14, 2011

Fresh: A father-son drama that wraps a gripping neurological oddity in comfortably familiar movie sentimentality. – Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times, Mar 17, 2011

Fresh: A sentimental but deeply felt true story about the healing power of music. – James Greenberg, Hollywood Reporter, Mar 14, 2011

One of my top 5 movies ever!

Having been born in 1951, this movie mirrors life w\ parents, the Dead and my work in the field of Rehabilitation. The story clarifies my theory that some bands have the power to match an individual's neural groove and speak to them in a fashion that's beyond words.

The acting is amazing. ! The music is the Dead- need I say more!

I'm inspired to bring my Dead cover band to the local Brain injury facility to see what we can stir up!

I'm buying copies for my daughters and friends to spread the word!

Amazing flick!

Must see

This movie is amazing! I was lucky enough to see it premiere at Sundance this year, and could not wait until I was able to own it. An amazing story about the father/son relationship set to a killer soundtrack. I recommend this film to everyone I speak with.

I read the story this movies is based on, "The Last Hippie" and so I was a little apprehensive about this film. When it disappeared from the theaters, I thought I must've been right... So, you can imagine how surprised I was when I actually found myself laughing out loud one moment, in tears the next. Don't get the wrong impression, this is a fun, uplifting movie that embraces that thing inside all of us, the human spirit. Powerful movie and astounding performances. Lou Taylor Pucci deserves a nomination for his complex performance.
