About the Movie

In this hilarious fantasy for baseball lovers, Albert Brooks stars as a desperate Yankee scout who'll do anything to sign a new prospect. Banished to Mexico to search for talent, he discovers the greatest young ball player (Brendan Fraser) he's ever seen. But once he gets him back home, he finds his new recruit has a few unexpected problems that just may jeopardize both their jobs.

Top Critics' Reviews

Rotten: The Scout was directed by Michael Ritchie and written by Mr. Brooks and Monica Johnson from a script written by Andrew Bergman years ago. It's probably not all that valuable to wonder how so many talented people went so wrong. – Caryn James, New York Times, Aug 12, 2009

Rotten: Even with the modest allure of Albert Brooks in what amounts to a mainstream effort, The Scout should get a quick trip to the showers. – Brian Lowry, Variety, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: Rarely does a movie start high and go downhill so fast. It's as if the filmmakers progressively lost their nerve with every additional scene. – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times, Jul 7, 2010

Rotten: It's been a long time since there's been a good baseball movie. The Scout makes you wonder if there's ever going to be one again. – James Berardinelli, ReelViews, Aug 12, 2009

good movie

its an alright movie its worth watching but i wouldnt define it as a classic and remeber quotes from it but id say its worth a rent

I got the dvd it is a good movie it has its funny parts. And what is with the genre Itunes it is not Drama it is so Comedy i mean really Itunes. Dont worry itunes you are still the best!

Three words: "Not Good"

I'll put it like this: my wife's dad sent us the DVD, we watched it once, and didn't even just tuck it away in our movie library - it went into the trash can. Right up (down?) there with Caddyshack 2 as one of the worst movies either of us have ever seen.
