Top Critics' Reviews

Fresh: Mr. Reynor's portrayal of this man-child is an extraordinary screen performance in which his face registers all the conflicting emotions gripping Richard. We see every layer of him, from the scared inner child to the suave, entitled ladies' man. – Stephen Holden, New York Times, May 9, 2013

Fresh: A low-key but compelling morality tale. – Leslie Felperin, Variety, May 15, 2013

Fresh: [Feels] like a Bergman homage without earning the clunky label "Bergmanesque." – Sherilyn Connelly, Village Voice, May 7, 2013

Fresh: You may be shocked by your own reactions to "what Richard did," but you won't soon forget the movie in which he did them. – Rex Reed, New York Observer, May 15, 2013

Great film

I hope this film gets some publicity. It was beautifully told and acted. Reynor definitely has a career in acting ahead of him!

Great Film. Breakout Performance by Jack Raynor

After seeing the trailer for this film, I was really looking forward to it, and it did not disappoint. American made films tend to have too many talking heads and forget that it's a visual medium. Jack Raynor did more with one look than most actors say throughout the entire film, and kudos to the director to capture those moments. There wasn't a false moment. Richard's spiral was raw, gritty, and the moments of isolation and madness were powerful. The confession scene with his father was magnificent.

Jack has a great future in film, and he will be acting circles around Mark Wahlberg (which doesn't take much) in the upcoming Transformers sequel.

Kudos to the rest of the cast as well, especially the love interest and the actor playing Connor. And to the director, thanks for staying true to the craft and for telling a such a haunting, provocative and evocative story.

What Richard Did

Thought provoking, in your head film. How one thing can change your life forever, so using extra care in how you interact in your daiy life, is crucial. Think, before you act, look, before you leap, etc. Acting was great. I found Jake's character refreshing, too. Pace was nice, for the emotional build up.
