YOUTH IN REVOLT is a coming-of-age comedy that puts a fresh and outrageous stamp on a tale of adolescent obsession and rebellion. Based on the acclaimed novel by C.D. Payne, YOUTH IN REVOLT is the story of Nick Twisp - a unique, but affable teen with a taste for the finer things in life like Sinatra and Fellini - who falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) while on a family vacation. But family, geography and jealous ex-lovers conspire to keep these two apart. With Sheeni's encouragement, Nick abandons his dull, predictable life and develops a rebellious alter ego: Francois. With his ascot, his moustache and his cigarette, Francois will stop at nothing to be with Sheeni, and leads Nick Twisp on a path of destruction with unpredictable and uproarious consequences.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: A sweet and slight and often charming coming-of-age tale.
Fresh: I love this new breed of dirty movie. It goes beyond leering, beyond sexism, to the core tension of a culture that ricochets between Puritanism and promiscuity. And it has in Michael Cera a sterling mascot.
Rotten: From The Catcher in the Rye to Rushmore, it's a story we've seen in better versions before.
Fresh: The studio's lackluster release will likely mean it'll thrive on DVD. Don't wait for that. Youth in Revolt is worth making a trip to the theaters.
a diffrent breed of hilrious!!!
this movie was soo funny! if ur a fan of michel cera you will love this film. If ur not a fan of michel cera you will love this film. He makes it so funny with his dry humor and the raunchy content of the movie. it will be a teen fav for comedies
Not as good as the book
When I read CD Payne's "Youth in Revolt" I laughed aloud throughout the whole story. I did not once laugh aloud (or at all, really) during this movie. It isn't awful; the acting is decent, and the music choice (which I find key to a successful movie) isn't bad. But, the movie wasn't that good either.
To summarize, the movie was a bit lackluster. The book is much funnier than the movie. I don't think this is worth 4 bucks to rent, let alone 15 bucks to buy. If you're a HUGE Michael Cera fan, then go for it, but otherwise this movie just isn't that great and I don't recommend it.
Odd but great
Odd movie that is suprisingly good. Well made. It is very realistic to an average teenager. Michael cera is great as usual and a great supporting cast. Was also beautifully made and completly worth watching.
