This is a different type of recording than usual for guitarist Kenny Burrell, for it is really a collaboration with pianist-arranger LaMont Johnson. Burrell is the main soloist and is backed by a big band comprised of top Los Angeles area musicians with occasional strings. Johnson also has a fair amount of solo space and contributes four originals. Burrell plays quite well and only his two so-so vocals (on "Sunset Time" and "Trees") lowers the music's quality a little; he just has an average voice. Otherwise this set is well worth searching for.
