Curved Air

About Curved Air

Formed from the ashes of classically influenced progressive band Sisyphus, Curved Air signed to Warner Brothers for a much-publicized advance of £100,000. Their debut album, AIRCONDITIONING, was heavily promoted, while enjoying a particular curiosity value as one of rock’s first picture disc albums. In 1971, they enjoyed their sole U.K. Top 5 hit with "Back Street Luv," while their SECOND ALBUM cleverly fused electronic rock and classical elements to win favor with the progressive music audience. PHANTASMAGORIA, displayed a more folky, esoteric direction but disagreements over musical direction left Sonja Kristina as the sole original member by late 1972. Curved Air completed two albums with a new line-up, one featuring Stewart Copeland who would go on to form the Police, before disbanding in 1977.
