About Gareth Dunlop

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I can remember going on long drives.. me, my brother, my two sisters and my parents all crammed into the car screaming along to ‘Sergeant Where’s Mine’ by Billy Connelly. I don’t remember the radio ever being on in our car, I remember this on repeat. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Bob Dylan, Blood On The Tracks Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lynyrd Skynyrd Greatest Hits Paul Simon, In the Blue Light Blood On The Tracks was the first album I heard that made me want to start writing my own songs. Lynyrd Skynyrd Greatest Hits was the first album I ever bought with my own money. ‘In the Blue Light’ blew my mind open the first time I heard it. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Look Back Smiling” A song of mine that feels special to me is ‘Look Back Smiling’ I wrote it for my son as a ‘grab life by the horns’ type of song. It was a message to him to make the most of each day, to be himself and when he looks back - to look back smiling. What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? One of the most memorable moments on this crazy train so far would be sitting down to write songs with John Oates of Hall & Oates fame... He was so encouraging and was kind enough to tell me a few crazy stories about their hey days! Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? Lots of things i'd still love to do! One that comes to mind immediately would be to work on a full soundtrack for a movie... i've written lots of songs for film and television but taking on a full soundtrack would be an incredible experience!
