Isley Jasper Isley

About Isley Jasper Isley

A spin-off from the Isley Brothers, bassist Marvin Isley, drummer/guitarist Ernie Isley, and their keyboardist/brother-in-law Chris Jasper worked in the Isley Brothers' "3 + 3" band from 1969 until 1984. They signed with CBS as a separate entity and had substantial success with their debut LP, Broadway's Closer to Sunset Blvd. (1984). Caravan of Love (1985) included an R&B chart-topping single in the title cut, which had a three-week reign. They scored three other Top 20 R&B singles, "Insatiable Woman," "8th Wonder of the World," and "Givin' You Back the Love." The latter two came from the group's third and final album, Different Drummer (1987). Jasper went solo, reached the Top Five of the R&B chart with his debut single "Superbad," and later switched to contemporary gospel. Marvin and Ernie rejoined the Isley Brothers. The former died in 2010 of complications from diabetes. ~ Ron Wynn
