About Jess Cox
b. England. Well known to followers of UK heavy metal via his involvement with New Wave Of British Heavy Metal outfit Tygers Of Pan Tang, Cox ended his tenure as that band’s singer in 1981. He temporarily joined Lionheart, but that association lasted for only one performance. Afterwards he entered a period of musical non-activity that was eventually broken with the release of his debut solo album, Third Step, in 1983. On this collection Cox attempted, largely unsuccessfully, to combine various styles from pop to conventional hard rock, but it was obvious to most critics that he needed fellow musicians to embroider his songwriting. Cox subsequently formed Tyger Tyger with former Tygers Of Pan Tang bandmate in 1986 in order to try to recapture the original band’s past glories. Little was then heard of him until he reunited with Tygers Of Pan Tang co-founder Robb Weir in 1999 to play a live set at the Wacken Festival.
