The recording moniker employed by Berlin, Germany-based video artist Fabian Grobe (b. 1970, Hannover, Germany) and behavioural artist Markus Schöbel. Le Dust Sucker’s tracks had earlier been included on mix albums from Michael Mayer (Fabric 13), Tobias Thomas (Smallville), Headman (Dance Modern) and Boris Dlugosch’s (Bionic Breaks) but in 2004, the duo issued their own self-titled album, packaged appositely enough inside a sleeve that seemed to depict blown speaker cable. ‘Ultimately, most of our stuff is deliberately intended to encourage ass-shaking’, the duo has confirmed of their (sonically) profane tech-house. The duo has asserted that ‘we are trying to find new facets to deep dance music’, but Le Dust Sucker’s sense of glee is not entirely derived from such honourable intent: ‘At the same time, we are cultivating all our bad habits’, they have admitted. Thus, on ‘Mandate My Ass’, the duo seemed to re-imagine Gil Scott-Heron’s reflection on Reagan-era politics as some kind of lascivious invitation. ‘Love Me’, meanwhile, stomped and pulsed and throbbed with utter licentiousness as a (female) voice pleaded the words of the track title. As if making it impossible to misinterpret Grobe and Schöbel’s lusty mandate, ‘All Day’ opened with the sampled claim of ‘I’ve been feeling really horny all day’, while ‘Love Game’ suggested Barry White had been resurrected on the German techno dancefloor. Le Dust Sucker have remixed Afrika Bambaataa and have had their own recordings remodelled by artists such as Anders Ilar, Askesian Society and Dominik Eulberg.
