About The Fallout Trust

Two childhood friends from Bristol spent time in 2001 cycling around Berlin, listening to Iggy Pop and David Bowie on shared headphones as they searched for the legendary Hansa studios (where Bowie and Pop incidentally recorded). That's all it took to inspire the friends, vocalist Joe Winter and guitarist/vocalist Guy Connelly, to start a band upon their return home to England -- well, that and other cited influences like the Associates, the Beatles, Talking Heads, and Scott Walker. Not ones to waste time, they quickly enlisted the rest of what would become the Fallout Trust: Winter's siblings Matt and Jess (lead guitar/piano and violin/keyboards, respectively) and friends Gavin Ellis (bass/vocals) and Matt Watson (drums/programming). The sextet converted an East London subterranean warehouse in the image of Hansa as their space for living, writing, and recording. Affectionately termed Q Quarters, the spot is also home to the group's art/film partners Duckeye (who make the band's videos) and a bimonthly club night that the band throws for the East London party crowd. It was at one of these soirées that the band's music impressed At Large Recordings, and the Fallout Trust inked a deal with the label in 2004. Two limited-edition EPs were issued in 2005, along with the singles "Washout" and "Before the Light Goes," all to critical acclaim. They self-recorded their debut album at Q Quarters, and In Case of the Flood was released in 2006 on EMI. ~ Corey Apar
