About The Hands

A garage punk band drenched in Stones influence that shares high-octane aesthetics with the Hives and the luster of the Strokes, basement-party rockers the Hands set forth to boost up the volume on '60s nostalgia. Sounding like a part of the Detroit garage rock revival scene, John, Cary, Michael, Eli, and Jordan formed the band in Olympia, WA, and soon decided to move over to Seattle. They self-released their raucous EP So Sweet and spent the year playing local clubs, quickly gaining praise and catching the attention of a program director at KEXP, who worked "So Sweet" into the station's rotation. After getting snatched up by Selector Sound, their 12-song full-length, The Hands, followed in February of 2008 with album art depicting, you guessed it, a hand. ~ Jason Lymangrover
