Noted for their close similarity to classic noise and indie rock bands such as Pavement and Sonic Youth, Brooklyn-based trio the Muggabears are guitarist/vocalist Travis Johnson, bassist Emily Ambruso, and drummer Kevin Murphy. Johnson had started the band with a different lineup while attending the University of Oklahoma in 2003. The first effort, Kim Berlin, came in 2004. While moving to New York in winter 2005, Johnson recruited Ambruso and Murphy and the trio soon issued the self-released EP Teenage Cop in September 2006. ~ Kenyon Hopkin
