The Shady Grove Band

About The Shady Grove Band

The Shady Grove Band was a bluegrass quartet that played both traditional and newgrass. They were founded in the early '80s by singer/guitarist Jerry Brown in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Other band members included singer/songwriter/bassist Adael Shinn, who was born and raised in Kannapolis, North Carolina and got her start playing bass with such artists as Earl Scruggs and John Hartford; Charles Pettee, who played mandolin and also wrote many of the songs; and banjo picker Jason Shore. Between 1985 and 1994, Shady Grove recorded four albums including The Chapel Hillbilly Way. ~ Sandra Brennan
