About White Shoes & The Couples Company

Formed in 2002 in Jakarta after sparks flew between students Aprilia Apsa and Yusmario Farabi while teaching at the Art Institute of Cikini, eclectic pop outfit White Shoes & the Couples Company blend lazy, Burt Bacharach-inspired melodies with winsome indie pop to create a truly unique sound. Vocalist Apsa and guitar player Farabi, along with second guitarist Saleh, bassist/cellist Ricky Sury Virgana, piano/viola player Prawidyanti Virgana, and percussionist John Navid released the group's self-titled debut on Minty Fresh Records in Europe in 2004. It was released in the United States with bonus tracks in 2007. ~ James Christopher Monger
