Cuban reggaeton duo Yomil y El Dany rose to prominence with the regional hit “Tengo”—a remix of Nicki Minaj’s Grammy-nominated “Truffle Butter”—and helped define the “trapton” subgenre. ∙ The duo’s 2016 sophomore LP, Sobredosis, earned them their first Top 10 release, landing at No. 8 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. ∙ At the 2017 Latin Billboard Music Awards, they were nominated for Latin Rhythm Albums Artist of the Year, Duo or Group. ∙ They were featured on the lead-off track “Winning” from Pitbull’s 2019 LP, Libertad 548, and the song went on to become part of a major wireless telecom ad campaign. ∙ Los Champions—the 2020 album released after El Dany’s untimely passing—featured collaborative involvement by more than 30 artists in the Cuban music scene.
