One of the many benefits of doing yoga is developing your ability to have awareness in any given moment.
My personal intention is to be a positive and happy person. I began to ‘check in’ with myself throughout the day to assess how I was doing on this front. After a while I became aware that not only was my mind often wandering towards negative or stressful thoughts, but that my face would be contorted in such a way that I was literally wearing that tension on my face.
Many times throughout the day I noticed my eyes would be squinted, the corners of my mouth would be pursed together and worry-line wrinkles would protrude from my forehead. I was stunned by how often I was wearing this stress and noticed that the skin on my face was starting to wrinkle in those areas.
At that time, I had been practicing yoga for about 8 years and was amazed at how lean, firm and strong my body had become. I had a better physique at age 32 than I did at age 22! I wondered if I could apply yoga exercises and awareness to tone the muscles of my face the same way the yoga exercises toned my once flabby body.
I learned that I could!
Yoga Face exercises build up the muscles under the skin. This reduces the effects of gravity, thereby erasing wrinkles, and increases circulation in the face which gives it a youthful glow.
HOW TO USE THIS APP:
The Yoga Face app has two offerings. A free offering which consists of 5 lessons and an upgrade option consisting of twelve individual videos, each targeting a specific area of the face, as well as a full routine which takes less than five minutes to complete.
There are two tabs, the “Lessons” tab and the “Commentary” tab. The “Commentary Tab” gives you detailed instruction on how to perform the lesson while the lesson is playing. Please watch the commentary before you actually perform the lesson.
The “Lesson Tab” gives you quick, simple instruction and verbal ques while the video is playing. You simply follow along with the video.
Through practice and daily application, results include:
• Reducing wrinkles of the forehead
• Softening or eliminating the ‘worry line’
• Reducing the lines of crows feet
• Lifting the eyebrows which reduces droopy lids
• Reducing swelling or discoloration of bags under the eyes
• Firming muscles of the cheeks which defines cheek bones
• Firming muscles of the mouth resulting in fuller lips
• Firming the jaw line reducing double chin
• Smoothing out wrinkles of the neck
By working out the muscles of your face you develop an awareness of when you are carrying stress or holding tension in your face. From that awareness, you can soften, relax, and experience the peacefulness that we are all meant to embody, regardless of what is going on around you.
