Having asserted their moxie in true corrido fashion over seven previous studio albums, Mexico-by-way-of-Texas septet Duelo get vulnerable on their eighth, Solamente Tú. Lead crooner Oscar Ivan Treviño may narrate wild tales of flings with dreamgirls on “Lo Mejor de Perderte”, but his heartbreak feels less fleeting. And while “La Magia de Tu Amor” may be full of cowboy swagger, the lyrics are pure love-letter poetry. Wistful accordion and thrumming guitar bind this bittersweet combo of folksy norteño and country rock.
