About Lovers Electric

Playing tuneful but energetic pop tunes that recall the influence of '80s new wave and dance-pop, Lovers Electric are an Australian duo comprised of lead vocalist and instrumentalist Eden Boucher and instrumentalist/singer David Turley. Boucher and Turley were childhood friends who both grew up with a precocious creative bent; Turley's mother was a professional pianist and he gave his first recital at the age of 11, while the members of Boucher's family were travelers and she initially pursued a career as a fashion designer. In 2005, Boucher and Turley were both living in Adelaide, Australia, and decided to form a band. Choosing the name Lovers Electric, they began recording material in Turley's home studio and released their first single, "Honey," through Shell Records in the fall of 2006, with Fuzz Townshend sitting in on drums. A full-length album, simply titled Lovers Electric, followed in December 2006. Lovers Electric headed out on a tour of the United States, and in the spring of 2007 they scored a big break, being chosen as support act for a major European reunion tour for British synth pop pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. ~ Mark Deming
