Slam

About Slam

Local ‘90s rock wasn’t all about slick solos and flamboyant frontmen, as Slam emphatically proved. Their ballad-filled second album, 1995’s Kesan Terbukti, not only topped the charts at home but broke into the seemingly impregnable Indonesian market. Then the melancholic and deeply poetic single “Gerimis Mengundang” made them a certified phenomenon as Saari Amri’s composition travelled across the region, even being translated into 24 different languages. In any conversation about the greats of Malay rock, Slam’s success is a foundational story.
