A Creative Tradition Agnes Scott College is known for fostering the creative spirit through the written word, and for almost 35 years the Writers’ Festival has brought renowned novelists, poets, playwrights and essayists to the campus. Past distinguished literary figures include: Joyce Carole Oates, John Updike, Robert Penn Warren, James Dickey and Margaret Atwood. Barbara Walters, the best-known woman in television journalism history, will discuss her life and work in a free public program May 19, 2008 at Agnes Scott College. Her appearance is sponsored by the Georgia Center for the Book at the DeKalb County Public Library as part of its 10th anniversary celebration.
