Albumrecensie

Right out of the gate, Limp's Guitarded promises to be a by-the-numbers pop-punk (mostly pop, very little punk) affair; "Entertainer"'s entirely familiar chord progression and melodies borrowed straight from Blink 182 kick off an album filled with politely distorted guitar riffs and mannered singing meticulously cribbed from the Green Day catalog. "Passed Out," meanwhile, is the album's requisite ska-flavored track. The music is played competently, and it all sounds fine, but it wouldn't be an overstatement to say that Limp's sound is entirely unoriginal. Too bad, because the band does have talent — they just need to find their own voice.

Alternative pop/rock outfit Limp emerged from the same region that spawned such bands as Neurosis, Fang, Econochrist, and Rancid, building on the roots they planted in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. Following the release in 1997 of Pop and Disorderly, Limp's debut album, the group embarked on a yearlong tour to build up its fan base and encourage support.
