The members of Syracuse quintet Unholy parlay their considerable performing experience with numerous previous bands (Another Victim, Path of Resistance, Godbelow, etc.) into their 2007 debut, Blood of the Medusa, which they hope will provide the "soundtrack to your summer apocalypse." Well put, gentlemen, and whether the album fulfills this particular mission or not, its rage-driven brand of hardcore-founded heavy metal does confirm the group's appreciation for composing complete songs, rather than loosely linked patchworks of shouted diatribes, guitar riffs, and hyperactive drumming.
