About Darlene Love
Darlene Love is the stage name of Darlene Wright, an American singer and actress who sang on some of the biggest hits of the 1960s, both as lead and backing vocalist. ∙ At her very first recording session with producer Phil Spector, Love sang lead vocals on The Crystals’ recording of “He’s a Rebel,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 1962. ∙ Love contributed backing vocals to numerous hits produced by Phil Spector, including The Ronettes’ “Be My Baby” and The Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’.” ∙ “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” was her highest-charting song released under her own name, reaching No. 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. ∙ Rolling Stone included Love on its 2008 list of the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, and in 2011, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ∙ In 2015, she won a Grammy Award for her appearance in the documentary film 20 Feet from Stardom.
