About Dave Seaman

British producer, remixer, and DJ Dave Seaman is a veteran of the progressive house scene, with countless remixes, original productions, and DJ mixes to his credit. A party DJ since the '80s, Seaman became the editor of Mixmag, transforming it from a newsletter for DJs to a popular magazine covering the burgeoning acid house and rave scenes. The initial volume of the magazine's mix series, a mixtape by Seaman and Carl Cox, is considered to be the first legal, commercially released DJ mix. Seaman formed production team Brothers in Rhythm in the early '90s; they released a few original tracks, but were far more prolific as a remix act, going on to remix tracks by artists outside of the dance music world like Garbage, Placebo, and Alanis Morissette, as well as producing and writing songs for Take That, Kylie Minogue, and Pet Shop Boys. The group's alter ego Brothers Love Dubs released a well-known early-'90s club hit called "The Mighty Ming," which was released by Stress Records, the pioneering progressive house label founded by Seaman. His mixing work has appeared on multiple volumes in the DJ Culture, Mixmag Live!, Renaissance, and Global Underground series, including split volumes with Sasha + John Digweed, Masters at Work, BT, and several other notable DJs. Seaman has also been a resident DJ at Miami's Groovejet club. In the early 2000s, Seaman established a new label, Audio Therapy, releasing 12"s by himself as well as numerous up-and-coming producers. He also issued mix CDs on the label, beginning with 2005's This Is Audiotherapy, which was followed by a second volume in 2009. Continuing to release Renaissance and Global Underground mixes into the 2010s, Seaman moved into more of a tech-house direction for 2013's The Selador Sessions. Beyond Borders: Berlin appeared on Armada two years later. ~ Heather Phares
