Dutch rock band Soul Sister Dance Revolution were established in 2009 with a sound close to alternative and indie rock. After four years of practicing and gigging, the band released their first album, Playground Kids, produced by DJ Di-Rect and their bassist Bas van Wageningen, managing to get to number 28 in the Dutch album chart.
After the release of the first record, the band played many headline shows, including festivals such as Metropolis and Parkpop, and their song "Soul Sister Dance Revolution" was included on the soundtrack for the Dutch TV program The World Keeps Turning.
