Far East Business Chinese 1 is aimed at foreign business people who are either still in the planning stages or on their way to China to engage in business. This course was designed to help those who wish to teach themselves business Chinese. Learners are only required to have a basic grasp of Chinese (i.e., to have completed 120 to 200 hours of instruction) to use this course. This on-line study platform combines a digitized version of material from the textbook with multimedia audio and visuals for a diverse learning experience. Themes relevant to business-world communication are presented via an interactive task-based approach, starting with the basics and working toward the more advanced materials. The readings and listening comprehension exercises are taken from real-world materials. These exercises, in addition to the introduction to business culture given in each lesson, allow the learner not only to master business-related vocabulary at an early stage as well as to understand common business models in Chinese society, but also to improve their ability to communicate verbally in natural business settings and in daily life.
