It would be foolish for someone to not find the driving, melodic songs found on Common Ground to be emotional, as this word could easily be Sunset Black's middle name. Their full-length debut is a dynamic hard rock behemoth that oozes passion from every enunciated vocal and aggressive guitar pluck. Discovered by labelmates Nonpoint, Sunset Black shares the emotive vocals akin to the aforementioned group, yet fuels their songs with lyrics full of mesmerizing depth and solid song structures. This results in an impressive album that runs the gamut of one's emotions, from despair to anger to love, and should appeal to fans of such bands as Staind, Thursday, and Dashboard Confessional. ~ Jason D.
