After signing to Interscope, Imagine Dragons hustled off to Hollywood's Westlake studios to record with Rihanna/Eminem producer Alex Da Kid. The Vegas-based alternative pop group’s first EP on a major label sounds expectedly huge, switching between tricked-out electronic beats and anthemic chamber pop. The six songs are sweet and uplifting, led by the strong voice of Dan Reynolds, and highlighted by the inspirational Coldplay-indebted “Demons,” the safe Afro-pop fusion of “On top of the World,” and the bittersweet, irrepressible melody of “It’s Time.”
