Structure or Tunage? Booka Shade at their Down Tempo Best.

In typical Booka Shade style, this is a down tempo album, almost loungy at times with a few clubby tracks thrown in for good measure. There are some odd tracks here, almost juxtaposed together, and to be honest the album did not flow as freely as I would have liked. But aside from the structure comes the music. If tunage makes more of an impression on you than structure, then this album is for you. A few songs are not totally polished but there are some real gems hidden here. The singles "Charlotte" and "Numbers" are immediately recognizable to anyone in the scene, but there is so much more in this album that it is difficult to find a favourite (or find a track I dislike for that matter). To be honest a few tracks were a little, well “cheesy”, (I am thinking “Sweet Lies” and one or two others) but don’t be put off by that, as one mans cheese is another mans desert. This is a seriously good album and matches Booka Shade's reputation in this genre. The bonus tracks are worth downloading the album for, but personally I found the audio commentary a bit self serving. Overall a well worth while download that will grow on you after the second or third listen. Cheers DJ Opplevelse

However, before they were Booka Shade, Arno Kammermeier and Walter Merziger had an early-'90s synth pop duo called Planet Claire, which in the tradition of Underworld and Ministry mutated into something very...
