About Matt Gonzo Roehr

Matt Roehr (real name Matthias Röhr) is a German rock musician, primarily known for being the guitarist for hard rock outfit Böhse Onkelz. Born in Frankfurt in 1962, he took up guitar at 12 and quickly became involved with various musical projects (such as punk band Antikörper) before ultimately joining Böhse Onkelz in 1981 as bass guitar player. He eventually took on guitar duties for the group and enjoyed national success with them -- 1996's E.I.N.S. album became their most popular release -- before they split up in 2005. Roehr continued to write his own music and put out his debut solo effort -- Barra da Tijuca -- in 2007. The album was a stylistic and sonic departure from his previous work with Böhse Onkelz and incorporated various elements of funk, jazz, and blues-rock. He went on to release four more solo records before rejoining Böhse Onkelz in 2014 for live performances. ~ Rob Wacey
