Pennywise is a Southern California skate-punk band that took their name from the evil clown in the Stephen King novel It. ∙ “Bro Hymn,” the 1991 thrash anthem from Pennywise, has been adopted by sports teams around the world as a celebration song. ∙ Rolling Stone included the band’s 1993 release, Unknown Road, on its list of the 50 Greatest Pop-Punk Albums. ∙ About Time, the group’s third album, was not only their first to make the Billboard 200 chart, but it was also their first Gold-certified release in Australia. ∙ The video for Pennywise’s live, rerecorded version of “Bro Hymn”—released after the death of bassist Jason Thirsk—has garnered more than 15 million views. ∙ In 2019, they headlined the 25th, and final, Vans Warped Tour.
