About Tessie O'Shea

An immensely endearing entertainer, Tessie O'Shea made her stage debut at the age of 12, billed as "Two Ton Tessie." In the late-1930s she scored popular hits with "Nobody Loves A (Fat) Fairy When She’s Forty," and, as war broke out, "I Fell In Love With An Airman Who Had Big Blue Eyes, But I’m Nobody’s Sweetheart Now." Following the war, she toured with Billy Cotton, in the hugely popular musical revue TESS AND BILL. In 1963 she made her Broadway debut in Noël Coward’s THE GIRL WHO CAME TO SUPPER, for which she won a Tony Award. In later years, she had a cameo role in the Walt Disney movie Bedknobs And Broomsticks, and starred in a Las Vegas revue.
