About Goodnight Nurse

Goodnight Nurse are a punk-pop band from New Zealand whose debut album, Always and Never (2006), debuted in the Top Five and featured five charting hit singles. Formed in 2001 in Auckland, the band was originally a trio comprised of Joel Little (vocals, guitar), Paul Taite (bass), and Jaden Parkes (drums); upon Taite's departure in 2007, the band added Sam McCarthy (guitar) and Rowan Crowe (bass) to its membership. Goodnight Nurse began hitting the New Zealand charts in 2003 with the single "Loner," a Top 20 hit; additional Top 20 hits "Taking Over" and "Our Song" followed in 2004 and 2005, respectively. In 2006 the band released its full-length album debut, Always and Never, which debuted at number five on the New Zealand albums chart and spawned additional singles, including the Top 30 hits "My Only" and "All for You"; overall, the album featured seven singles, five of which charted. Goodnight Nurse's follow-up album, Keep Me on Your Side (2008), was also a Top Five hit and spawned another series of singles, including "The Night" and "I Need This." ~ Jason Birchmeier
