Sisters Valentine and Clementine Adams recorded their debut album in a remote coastal shack on the Coromandel Peninsula in northern NZ, and it sounds like it: Their airy soprano harmonies and quivering analog synthesisers are thick with humid atmospheres, and the instrumental "Penglai" buzzes with electronic insect chirps. Shoegaze textures embellish the ritualistic "Is You Real?" while "Orbit You" and "Perpetual Prelude" hint at Cocteau Twins and The Cure. As ethereal as it all may be, brooding electric bass underscores the surprising weight of their ambient dream pop.
