Album Review

"From Paris to Berlin/In every disco I get in/My heart is pumping for love" — so began yet another slice of Europop-disco from the Danish duo Lina Rafn and Paw Lagermann. The album had a long gestation period, originally being released in Denmark as early as 2004 and rolling around Europe as the lead single/title track became a hit wherever it was released. Throughout the album, there is liberal use of the 1970s-style voicebox, and the pace never slackens until the final track, "This Little Secret," which is crying out to be let loose but never manages it. The second track released as a single was a Hi-NRG version of Laura Branigan's "Self Control." There was even some heavy breathing on the track "I Won't Be Crying," but this is more reminiscent of a trip to the gym than the bedroom and not as seductive as the very similar Cascada album from earlier in the year. Also, unlike Cascada's Natalie Horer, Infernal were a Europop dance act with a massive single that did not cross over into album sales. [From Paris to Berlin was also released in an Australian Tour Edition.]

In 2000 Haahr left Infernal, but the other two have carried on, releasing...
