Album Review

Like the High School Musical franchise, Glee became more than a TV show when several of its songs cracked the Hot 100, including the number four hit "Don't Stop Believing." That song kicks off this soundtrack, the first in a series of albums cataloging the music performed by the show's cast. Tuneful performances by Mark Salling (who plays Puck) and former boy band member Kevin McHale (the wheelchair-bound Artie) make a good argument for Glee being an ensemble production, but Lea Michele still receives top billing as Rachel Berry, and she sings circles around several of the pop stars whose songs are featured here.

Totally GLEEful

I love Glee, such an awesome programme, and it's great to be able to buy the songs, although it's a great marketing ploy at $2.50 a pop with possibly up to five songs an episode. This is just Volume one, with another cd due to be released soon. A lot of songs on this album are yet to air here, so good if you want a sneak peek. The standout songs feature the character Rachel, but also great whole cast songs like the amazing golddigger and hate on me by Mercedes. I don't think much of Quinn's songs, I don't like her voice. Maybe this time features acclaimed broadway actress from Wicked and she particularly stands out. Great to sing along to!

Don't get much time to watch the show but love the music. Really uplifting good to play on the way home from work to bring a smile to you'r face.

If you love Glee you must own this CD so much talent!

When Glee aired its first episode in May 2009, the TV show only attracted a fraction of the viewers who tuned in for American Idol, which was shown on the same channel just one hour prior. The numbers looked bleak, but Billboard's music charts told a different story the following week, when the Glee version of Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" became a Top Five hit. Performed during the pilot by the castmates themselves, the song eventually sold over 700,000 downloads and paved the way for Glee's...
