It's almost shocking how blatantly this band borrows from the sound and aesthetic of Tom Waits: in the slurred vocal delivery of Alex McMurray, the junkyard blues sound of the band, and the bizarre cast of characters in the lyrics. But it still manages to be a pleasing, rootsy effort.

They've been hailed as one of the best bands to come out of New Orleans since the early-'90s emergence of Better Than Ezra.
