iTunes Review

Whitney Houston possessed the kind of vocal wizardry that could transform “The Star Spangled Banner” into a soulful, emotionally transcendent anthem—and here it’s an honest-to-goodness power ballad. This expansive collection offers both breadth and depth: Achingly romantic tunes from The Bodyguard soundtrack (“I Will Always Love You” and “Run to You”) complement snappy remixes of early-career gems (“I Wanna Dance With Somebody”) and deeper cuts like (“One Moment In Time”). It’s the definitive overview of one of pop music’s truly unparalleled talents.

Houston was able to handle big adult contemporary ballads, effervescent, stylish dance-pop, and slick urban contemporary soul with equal...
