Released in 2007, three years after his death, Claude Nougaro's 50 Plus Belles Chansons is a comprehensive three-disc retrospective of the French singer/songwriter's 50-year career. Influenced by both American jazz (Louis Armstrong, Sonny Rollins) and Brazilian music (Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chico Buarque), it includes his early 1962 singles "Une Petite Fille" and "Cecile, Ma Fille," his famous 1968 student/worker protest-inspired "Paris Mai," and tracks from his 1988 comeback album, Nougayork. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
