On 2002’s Diorama, we find Silverchair’s meaty grunge riffs softening into beautiful piano ballads like “After All These Years”. “Across the Night” invites the listener into a luxurious expanse of sound, where Daniel Johns’ worn-in falsetto blends with layered horn and string arrangements by Van Dyke Parks. “Tuna in the Brine” and “Luv Your Life” ascend to dreamy, cascading pop tunes, but on the ferocious, churning riffs of “The Lever” and “The Greatest View”, the trio resurrects its hard rock roots.

Silverchair quickly rose to international stardom in 1995 by mining a mix of Nirvana and Pearl Jam on their debut album, Frogstomp.
